Driving and Maintaining Your Car

Car Windscreen Upgrades

One of the misconceptions with car windscreens is that they can't be upgraded. In fact, many car owners tend to think of windscreens as a standard option that may need replacement or repair but nothing more. The truth is, there are several ways you can upgrade your windscreens to give you benefits you may not have considered. Here are a few of those upgrades and what you need to know about each one.

Rain Sensing

One of the key upgrades you can add to your windscreen is to have rain sensors installed. These sensors are directly connected to your wiper mechanisms. As the rain hits the windscreen, the sensors detect how often the rain is hitting and how heavy rainfall is. The wipers then adjust based on this detection. The benefit of this upgrade is the ability to reduce the times you are adjusting your wipers and to help you maintain focus on your driving during the weather conditions. The rain-sensing windscreen can be used in light rain as well as in heavier rain conditions where the intensity of the rain can change drastically and quickly.

Glare Reduction

If you do a lot of night driving, one of the things you would want to consider is a glare-reduction windscreen. This upgrade adds a film over the windscreen that helps reduce night glare for oncoming car headlights, streetlights and other light sources that could cause glare and blindness during driving. This upgrade can be added easily during windscreen replacement or repairs. In some cases, you can have this added as a film over the existing windscreen, and it can be replaced as needed.

Auto Shading

The auto shading feature is a film similar to the glare-reduction film that can be added to windscreens. The film will adjust as the sunlight increases. The adjustment will create a shading and tinting feature on the windscreen to provide shade from the UV rays and from the intense heat that could enter the car, causing the temperature to adjust drastically. Keep in mind that some areas may have special laws regarding the level of shading and tinting you can have with this type of windscreen upgrade.
